American Council on Education

For more than three years, Weber Shandwick has worked with the American Council on Education, Lumina Foundation for Education, and the Ad Council on KnowHow2GO, one of the first campaigns to speak directly to students about their college aspirations – in their language and through the media they trust. KnowHow2GO’s television, radio and outdoor PSAs encourage low-income students in grades 8 through 10 to prepare for college by taking simple, actionable steps. Our student-friendly Web site, KnowHow2GO.org, features real students to serve as guides, an interactive campus where students can get a feel for what the college experience will be like, quizzes to help students learn about the college going process in a fun way, and a video gallery of real students talking about their experiences preparing for college and succeeding in college. We’ve helped build strategic partnerships with groups as diverse as the YMCA of the USA’s Black and Hispanic Achievers Program, Westfield Shopping Centers and The Tom Joyner Morning Show to spread the word about the campaign. We also help to coordinate the work of more than a dozen state-based KnowHow2GO campaigns working to help students in their communities turn their college dreams into reality.
