DC Social Impact Team Does DCWeek Hackathon
Just before the 2012 Election madness, a few folks from the Social Impact team found time to strut their stuff at the second annual iStrategyLab's DCWeek Hackathon + Dev Days on Saturday & Sunday, November 2nd and 3rd.
“Our goal for the Hackathon was to improve online advertising by creating a tool that targeted users when they are most engaged. We found that industry specific data simply wasn’t good enough for individual brands and their audience. With large ad budgets at stake, we wanted to make something that allowed brands to make strategic decisions based on smart data—not to mention save money,” said Steve Place, a Strategist on the digital team.
Place worked with Weber Shandwick designers, Teodora Blindu and Ryan Von Dohlen and fellow local designers and developers to create the basis for a web-based tool using their own algorithm in conjunction with Twitter’s API and Facebook’s Open Graph that analyzed a brand’s social media data.
“It was great to see what got accomplished over the course of a weekend when agency professionals met startup mentality,” added Blindu.
